Texas Hold Em

OK so you just sat down at the table and you see a bunch of aggressive players….or loudmouths….or loose players… or… you get the point. We have your opponents pinned down and have ideas how you can take them down.

Unfortunately there are two different types of passive players. The first of which will be the main focus and is defined as a player who bets small with top pair, straights, flushes, etc.

A table full of loose players is by far the hardest table to find yourself sitting amongst in Texas Hold Em because you never really have any information as to what hands your opponents may hold on any given flop.

Beating a tight player is actually the easiest player to beat at your table, granted everyone else at your table has a basic knowledge of reading an opponent and what cards constitute good cards / what cards constitute bad cards.

Being on the small blind is a terrible place to be. You’ve already invested money into the pot regardless of what your hole cards are and you are going to be first to act on the flop.

If you’ve made it to the turn then you have to fall into one of the following categories: A) You made a pair (or better) on the flop / are holding a pocket pair B) You hold two overcards to a low board C) Are on a draw D) Plan on pulling a bluff to steal the pot away from 1 or more players E) are sitting at a table where everyone cheked.

If you’re going to bet on the river you’d better be prepared for at least one opponent if not more to call you, otherwise you’re just throwing your money away.

Betting. When Should You Bet? You should bet whenever you have a hand or a draw. Slowplaying can lead to disaster unless you’ve flopped the nuts and have no possible way of being beaten.

Should You Use Bluffing In Your Game? Absolutely. If you never bluff then your opponents (if they are paying attention) will be able to put you on a hand every time you bet.

Ever wonder what that tight player across the table from you might be playing? Well we went inside the mind of a tight player to put together a list of starting hands he is most likely playing.
